Tina Kim is a prominent New York–based gallerist and founder of Tina Kim Gallery, a globally recognized platform in Chelsea known for bridging Asian and Western contemporary art. Born in Seoul and raised in an art-centered family, she is the daughter of Hyun-Sook Lee, founder of Kukje Gallery—one of Korea’s most respected contemporary art institutions. After earning her master’s degree in Arts Administration in New York and gaining early experience at leading institutions such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, Sotheby’s, and the Paula Cooper Gallery, Kim founded her own gallery in 2001.
Through her curatorial vision, Tina Kim has been instrumental in introducing Korean modern and contemporary artists—including those associated with the Dansaekhwa movement—to the global stage. Her gallery is celebrated for championing underrecognized and cross-generational voices, fostering cross-cultural dialogue, and building enduring relationships between artists, collectors, and institutions worldwide.
Tina Kim Gallery regularly participates in major international art fairs and museum collaborations. She is the first Asian American board member of the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) and served on the selection committees of The European Fine Art Foundation (TEFAF), the oldest international art fair, for both its Maastricht and New York editions. Tina was also instrumental in planning Frieze Seoul and serves on its selection committee. She is a Director’s Council member of Dia Art Foundation.
Kim’s influence extends beyond the art market—she has become a key cultural bridge linking Seoul and New York, shaping the global understanding of Korean contemporary art and amplifying its presence within the broader international art conversation.
