Dr. Dona Kim Murphey, MD, PhD, is a neurologist, neuroscientist, and health justice advocate and activist who serves as Founder and CEO of PrognosUs and Chief Scientific Officer of Synthesys Brain Health. She earned her B.A. in History & Science from Harvard College and her MD/PhD in Neuroscience from Baylor College of Medicine, where she also completed training in neurology and epilepsy.

Dr. Murphey’s work bridges neuroscience, technology, and social impact. At PrognosUs, she develops culturally responsive and community-based screening, education, and care models in dementia to address disparities among immigrant and underserved populations. At Synthesys Brain Health, she leads scientific strategy for EEG-based biomarkers to improve brain health diagnostics.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Murphey is deeply involved in multiracial, multiethnic civic engagement and health advocacy and activism. Having served on the boards of Doctors For America and Doctors In Politics, she organizes patients, families, and health care professionals to map and challenge institutional power. Understanding that individual suffering is produced and reproduced by intersecting systems that fail to meet our material needs, she sits on the boards of Woori Juntos and the Race & Equity Leadership and Research Collective to build impacted community-led capacity for change.
