Miyoung Lee is a distinguished art collector, philanthropist, and cultural leader whose vision and advocacy have made a lasting impact on the contemporary art landscape. As Vice President and Trustee of the Whitney Museum of American Art, she plays a vital role in guiding the museum’s strategic direction, supporting artist acquisitions, and fostering deeper connections between artists, patrons, and institutions. Known for her discerning eye and commitment to championing diverse voices, Lee has built a personal collection that highlights emerging, women, and international artists, reflecting her belief in the transformative power of art to shape society and bridge cultures.

Beyond the Whitney, Lee contributes her expertise to other major institutions, including serving on the Acquisition Committees of the Studio Museum in Harlem and Tate Modern, North America as well as the Selection Committee of the High Line Plinth. She is also Vice Chair of the Children’s Museum of Manhattan (CMOM); Chairperson of Friends of New Curators, a paid curatorial training program for students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds; and a board member of GYOPO. Lee has co-chaired the Whitney Biennial committee and is a trusted advisor and patron to many contemporary artists and curators. Deeply committed to elevating Korean and Korean American artists within the global art scene, she brings both passion and purpose to her work. Through her leadership, philanthropy, and curatorial engagement, she continues to inspire a new generation of art collectors and cultural advocates dedicated to expanding representation and inclusion in the arts.
