Jeannie Rice is one of the world’s most accomplished masters marathoners. Born in South Korea and later immigrating to the United States, she began running at age 35 to stay fit—transforming a casual hobby into a record-breaking career spanning four decades. She has completed over 130 marathons and earned the prestigious Six Star World Marathon Majors medal for finishing all six global races: Boston, New York, Chicago, Berlin, London, and Tokyo.
Rice holds multiple world age-group records, including the women’s 70–74 marathon record (3:24:48 in Berlin 2019) and the 75–79 record (3:33:27), along with world records in the half marathon (1:37:07 at age 71) and other distances from 1,500 meters to the marathon. Her VO₂ max of 47.8—among the highest ever recorded for her age—reflects her extraordinary fitness and discipline.
