Tammy Suh Meinershagen is a trailblazer and change-maker in Frisco, Texas—the fastest-growing city in the U.S. She made history as the first Korean-American woman to hold a City Council seat and serve as Deputy Mayor in the State of Texas. Named the “Spirit of Frisco” by her community, Tammy’s influential work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Korea Daily News, and other notable media outlets.

Her leadership in arts, culture, and innovation has reshaped Frisco’s cultural landscape. Collaborating with partners at every level, Tammy has helped bring transformative projects to the city, including the Academy of Country Music Awards, the PGA of America Headquarters, Universal Kids Theme Park, and the University of North Texas campus—solidifying Frisco as a leader in innovative public-private partnerships.

Tammy also spearheaded the creation of Frisco’s first Multicultural Advisory Committee and led efforts to launch the city’s inaugural International Fest, celebrating its growing diversity. As a Texas Municipal League Leadership Fellow, she has undergone extensive training in
negotiation, change management, and ethical leadership. As Deputy Mayor, Tammy plays a key role on the Regional Transportation Council, working with 45 elected leaders to address the region’s challenges as North Texas’ population is expected to reach 12.5 million by 2050.

With a background in education, nonprofit leadership, and business consulting, Tammy effectively engages with diverse stakeholders, from students to CEOs. She is also an active member of the Orchid Giving Circle, contributing to over $1.4 million in grants to Asian-American
causes in North Texas. Originally from Chicago, Tammy is a professionally trained musician and a graduate of Northwestern University. She and her husband Todd have called Frisco home for 21 years, where they’ve raised their three daughters. A lifelong musician, she enjoys playing the violin and her Steinway piano in her spare time.
